Update !! Well, we've moved, chooks are happy- ish & settling down in their new home (& so are we!) :D

Just thought I'd come on to say thanks for the advice a few weeks back. (I asked about the best way of integrating an old 'pensioner' that I was asked to give a home to & how to do it & move & etc all at once!) well, the advice was keep her sectioned off but visible from the others until the move then put them all in together, it worked a treat! Yes, there's a little 'hen pecking' & she's very wary of them, but no more than to be expected.

I also asked about an electric fence, I think I've decided against it for now as I managed to buy a fantastic, fully enclosed run, made in sections, & in very good condition along with an egloo cube (still getting used to that!) from the website Preloved. So for the immediate future they're OK.

Next step - new young chooks !!!

Four - although elderly 2 still laying (1 very regularly, keep thinking her body clock must have gone into re-wind !) & my Campine laid for a couple of months early on in the Spring then gave up, she's a bit stressed now, hope its not going to be her downfall as she's my favourite.

Not sure what to get, would love some blue egg layers but mainly just want some healthy, happy hens! As this bunch have lived very well into old age want the young ones to be as hardy really. They were hatched by an amateur who'd never done it before but she obviously got something right! I like having a mixed bunch so will have a look around locally - anyone Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire borders got any pullets???
