Mega egg!

I'm sure people out there have seen bigger, but this is my biggest egg so far.

One of my orps laid it on Saturday, 3" long!
I've put it next to some other eggs to give an idea of its size:

From left to right:
Pekin laid the white one, then a Welsummer, another Welsummer (I suspect they're not 100% pure breeds!), the big orp egg, then a little orp egg, then another pekin egg.

I'm pleased I'm not a chicken, I wouldn't like to lay something like that! :?

wow, i was chuffed to get a normal sized egg today! (did only get the girls yesterday though!)

Good pic Osric,you know why she laid you such a big egg ,she's seen you egg collecting and eating the eggs,and come to the conclusion that a big bloke like you needs a bigger egg :lol: .She was probably hoping it might last you longer.... .
I can imagine the conversation between the girls whilst she was laying....
" oh no,this one hurts"
"keep pushing,it will come out dear..."
"OW OW OW....."
"YOU'RE ONLY LAYING AN EGG,GET A GRIP"
"wow,look at the size of that mama"
"let me see,the egg or her,she is a big mama..."
after some panting and heavy breathing "whoopee!!!! its out of my a** " whilst the pekins faint.... :lol:

Lydia,
I just love the imagery. I can really see a couple of my pekins going into a dead faint in a situation like that!
(Mind you, wouldn't we all?)

My mega egg turned out to be a triple yolker!!!

I've only seen a double yolker once so was really surprised to see three yolks from one egg!


I've had another big egg laid recently so I'll try to get a pic when I crack it open

That's big! I was 9lb 6oz and my mother said I cried for the first 30 mins of my life until the midwife stuck a bottle in my mouth. My appetite hasn't changed much over the years. Mind you, I'm the youngest of five so I probably just fell out! :lol: Don't tell my mother I said that though:?

I'm still pleased I'm not a chicken and even more pleased I'm a bloke!
