Just felt the need to have to share this with you all. Went to the coop this morning and one of my girlies has laid an egg that is MASSIVE....it weighs 96grams!!! Now that some good going :D

That is pretty cool, I had my huge egg for lunch today and yes it was a double yolker, lovelly!!

I'm dying to find out if it is a double yoker but using my eggs up in date order so got a few more days to find out yet  hope it is!!!

Wow what a whopper that must be!! Congrats lol, by the way on the subject of eggs I have too many at the moment, 3.5 dozens and I cant sell them because my chickens are on Tylan soluble, any cooking ideas to help use them up? I know I should not really eat them  but I heard someone else on another site still ate theirs with no ill effects and I really hate wasting eggs even feeding them back to the chickens seems a waste as I get 4-6 every day.... Thanks

Can't say wether I'd use them but it is a shame to waste them!
What about making quiche, pasta, cakes, merangue?

Stuff you can freeze might be good too :)

Stuff to freeze is an excellent idea as we just bought a chest freezer and its empty although should be better next week as my meat chickens will be ready yum yum :) Pasta's good too as that can be stored for quite a while. I may make some cakes too but dont really want to go overboard on them not much good for my thighs!

One of my rescue Warrens regularly lays 85 -90gram eggs - don't know how she keeps it up, makes the eggs of the new layers look a bit silly in the box! I used to think it was just gratitude, a sort of thankyou to me. She has at last got rid of her feather sticks and grown wings, but the tail has suffered in the process - wonderful eggs, beautiful one colour light buff coat, a very cute bum, but no tail!!
An egg of more than 90g must be a wonderful sight, is it a record of any sort, and has she done it since? Evening all, Regards, ValerieB.

How long do eggs keep, approx?. Mine go from nest to cool room, box, then fridge. If I'm unsure, I do the water test, no matter how old, they all sit firmly on the bottom.
