We've just checked our new baby (still nameless due to gender defining problems) and we're pretty much 99.9% sure we have a little boy. (he's all white so no tell tale bib).

We were just wondering if any quail keepers know what a safe Male to female ratio is.

We have a boy (Houdini) and his four 'wives'. But we were wondering how safe it would be to try and integrate him into the bevy or if we should try and get him to make a bevy of his own.

How many girls do they need to keep them from attacking each other?

Thanks!!

I don't know aboyt CPQs, but with coturnix, sooner or later the males would fight, and there would be a lot of blood....
Not worth the risk of major trauma? Either set him up in another cage with his own girls, or get the breeder to swap him for another lady?

Oh, i couldn't part with him. He's got a name now and everything (Alby)

I think we may have to set him up with a hareem. :) Thanks Marigold!
