OH was looking at the marine traffic on the Thames, keeping an eye out for any sailing ships that might be sneaking up the Thames without being on the Port of London arrivals page, when she suddenly announced that LadyA was in West India Dock. Turns out it is a floating gin palace and you haven't snuck over here and set up residence in a palatial apartment in docklands LadyA.

And you win the award for best post title....I couldn't imagine what it was going to be about, and sure enough a story about the Lady A was beyond my imagingings! You just need to get Mrs BYM looking out for the Marigold, Margaid, Icemaiden, Mrs Biscuit and anyone else female now!

Not much chance of finding anything with my name on - specially not a luxury yacht!

So that's where my gin palace went! Wondered where I'd left it!

I will get her to look up names. You never know Margaid.
The Lady A is Lord Sugars yacht only cost $188 million. Google it and you can look around it. If we had that sort of money OH would buy something like the sailing ship Tenacious or Morgenster.
There are a couple of class D yachts called Lady B and Lady L , if you have anyone with those initials in the family Lady A.

This is the OH. there is a yacht called Icemaiden berthed near Glasgow and also a cargo ship with the same name. Couldn't find a MrsBiscuit but there is a floating gin palace called Biscuit and amazingly enough one called Hen Gen , is there something you wish to tell us Hen Gen?
Marigold you are an 1892 gaff cutter on the National Historic Ships register, a Canadian cruise ship and six R N ships have been called Marigold. I can't find a Margaid as yet.
If I had that sort of money to spend I would try and by Dar Mlodziezy from Poland so beautiful and graceful. Or Alex von Humboldt, I love the green sails

I used to play with the SS Hen Gen 60 years ago in the bath. I thought she'd gone down with the Palmolive on board in 1957. Glad to hear that she is still plying her trade on the oceans of the world.

Wow! Marigold 1892 is so beautiful!

Whereas HMS Marigold, Corvette of the Flower Class, may only have lasted for 2 years, but saw a lot of useful action in that time before being sunk in 1942.

I'm not keen on taking my Icemaiden to the Antarctic- she's a 14' long plastic touring kayak!!! At under £400, I suspect she was a lot cheaper than her namesakes too!

Could sort of ski across the snow in it?! :D

Now that would look good skiing down a mountain in a kayak. Bit like Indiana Jones going down the mountain in an inflatable dinghy in The Temple of Doom
LadyA you went through Tower Bridge the other day and are now berthed just down river from it

What on earth am I doing in London?? :o :o I hate cities! Of course, being a luxury yacht, at least I won't need to go around the streets! Last year, I had to go to London for a couple of days. I was a nervous wreck! And I discovered immediately that I have an insurmountable phobia about the Underground! Not only could I not bring myself to even go down into the Stations, I couldn't even look as other people disappeared down into them! I had to take taxis.

I know what you mean about the streets. I used to drive buses round various parts of London when I worked for TFL, now I just do rail replacement buses and emergency rail at times. It all seems so manic now up there.

Love Shropshire. Always thought I'd retire to Clun but got distracted by Scotland.

Worked for a year as a Guard/Emergency Motorman on the underground, LadyA. But then the Moorgate train disaster happened. But that's another story.

I've been known to consider using her as a sledge when it snows: our medieval village square is on a hill with a steep road down from each corner. It's just the lack of crumple zones that puts me off!
