does anyone know the best site for large chicken coops that have runs included? i am looking to pay around £400.00. thanks. x

The problem with large coops + attached runs is that they inevitably can't offer enough run space for the number of birds in the coop, bearing in mind that they need a minimum of 2 square metres of run space per bird, especially since I expect you are looking at 6-8+ birds when you say 'large coop'? A better bet would be to make a fixed run to the size they need, and instal a freestanding coop - probably cheaper in the long run and would help prevent stress-realted problems such as feather pecking which are common in small attached runs.
If you do start browsing sites for runs+coops, bear in mind that if they say 'room for 6 hens' the coop will probably be OK for 3-4, and you can work out the run area with that in mind.

thanks for the reply, yeah im thinking the same to be honest, it would be cheaper to do that as well in the long run .

I entirely agree with Marigold Tracy. Get a good coop which will last and then get your tools out and make the run to suit the number of hens based on 2 square metres per. Happy hens are heathy hens.

I bought a large covered run from Flyte so Fancy and then put the hen house enclosed in it.
It said it was big enough for 6 chickens but I just keep a 3 of Bantam Orpingtons and they seem very happy.
We have put in a Tree branch so that they can climb up, exercise and perch and they are let out in the garden in the evenings.
The people at Flyte so Fancy were very helpful and will make alterations for you on site if you ask them.

I bought a James Chicken Coom from Woodenart. I am very happy with it. A few months later I asked them to make an extra door/opening panel tor the run which they did for about £40 - so my chooks are also allowed freerange (under supervision) in the back of the garden. http://www.woodenart.org.uk/products.php?product=The-James-Chicken-Coop-Hen-House-and-Run#

We have a beautiful brand new tanalised house for sale, 3foot 6" x 3 foot, big enough easily for 8 to 10 medium sized hens. Raised off the ground by I think 18inches. 2 personal doors for cleaning, perches, and internal nestbox. I think hubby is building a run next week so will be have a run attached. Runs I think about 7 foot long excluding the area underneath the house. A quality house not a chinese import.
