We have a lame chick. It is eating and growing. It can hobble about but gets knocked over and trampled on by the others. We don't know what caused this problem. It is about 5 weeks old. As newcomers to poultry keeping we don't know what to do for the best. Please advise.

Hello, i would try and separate it from the others- to stop it getting knocked over- then see if you can find any injury- if not it i would see how it goes on its own for a few days- it should improve.
regards, David :)

The chick seems to have improved now as we have a large area outside for them to go into and it doesn't get trampled on. It is using its wings to help propel itself and can put the foot with the problem down now. There were no signs of injury or abnormalities from what I could see. So hopefully it is on the mend. Thanks for the advice.

Our little lame chick is fully recovered from her lameness. She is still much smaller than the rest of the chickens but fights her corner and is growing. :D
