Hi everyone, just a hello from me to introduce myself. I will be getting 4 girls in a couple of weeks time, their little house and run arrived yesterday and we will be spending today fox proofing as best we can. Keeping hens is a first for me (although Dad always kept them when I was growing up) soooo, as you can imagine I am extremely impatient and excited to get started! I live in Surrey with my hubby, 2 grown up kids, a border collie and two cockatiels. Looking forward to getting to know you :D

Hi Mimsy and a big welcome. We shall all be interested to hear about your new girls - have you decided what kinds to get yet? I hope the cocketiels won't be too jealous of all the time you're going to be spending, just henwatching!

Hello Mimsy and welcome to the forum. You sound rather more organised than we were when we first got chickens 5 years ago -we hadn't got them a coop! We still get excited with new arrivals and have got 3 coming Monday I hope.

Well the house and run are all in and ready...spent the afternoon just looking at it lol....even Gary (hubby) came in just now and said....I keep going out to look at it! So once the girls are here...I know we will be out there all the time :D chrismahon, trust me, if funds had permitted I would have gone and got everything together lol.

Omg...I spent about 4 hours solid reading threads today! So much wonderful information! Ran round with the hoover and washed the breakfast things at 4pm lol so it looks like I have been busy ;)

Morning all :D Well four more sleeps til I get my girls (well providing the chicken man has some girls for me lol) Sat in the gaze bo this morning at 6am hugging a latte, staring longingly at their little cottage lol. I put the straw and shavings in yesterday, so its all cozy for when they get home. Already we are discussing building a walk in run (after looking at all the wonderful piccies on here) a nice project for the summer. Is it Tuesday yet? hehehehehee
