Jersey Giant's first egg

My Jersey giant (big) Ben has just laid her first egg, and although she is large to say the least, her egg is 84g! I hatched her from a batch of six, and the egg she hatched from was small, no larger than a hen's egg - does this mean her eggs will get even bigger as she grows? Sometimes I wish I knew more about chickens. This forum is a great help for answers and tips, thanks everyone.

Your first egg, how exciting! A couple of years ago we visited The Wernelas Collection in Shropshire to try and decide what chickens we would like to have and they had the J/G there. They are really lovely gentle giants. I read that there eggs are not large in relation to their size. Mind you, many chickens lay small eggs at first so I' m sure they will get larger as time goes on. (though she is already laying big ones :shock: ) What colour are yours?
