Hi guys,
So we've had our chickens for just under a year, and love them to pieces. We are setting about dedicating an area of the garden to them, seperated by a picket fence. This will allow us to let them out to free range under our watch full eye. We were just going to give them some turf, but having watched them have so much fun in one of our old borders i was wondering if i could add in a little border for them to trash. Their main run is covered in chicken safe bark, so its not so easy for them to scabble.

Anyone got any ideas of plants that stand a chance if i put some in a border? I'm thinking something tall and big that they can dig around?

Or shall we stick with the grass only!!! They dont seem to go for the grass when they are in the main garden, just scattering the contents of the borders! Luckily the place is covered with wild garlic!

Hello Sezimondo

In our last place we had a lot of Hebe that stood up well to the chickens though they were well established, planting new ones you would have to take care to protect them initially as the loose soil will be a complete chicken magnet. They also left lavender and heather alone.
