I have 4 six week old chicks and 5 three week old chicks, all bantam RIRs, when can I integrate them? They are not in brooders as it is really warm here , 28 - 30 deg dropping to 25 min. The big chicks are in a run and the small chicks are in a large crate at the moment and regularly let out into the tortoise pen to flap their wings and stretch their legs. I did try to introduce small chick to big chicks but quickly took it out as they started pecking it. Would appreciate some advice here

Howdy Cherrycoop,

When I integrate chicks/chickens, I take the one/s that are moving in and put them in their new home at night so the chicks/chickens in the coop think that these newcomers had been there for awhile. They will still peck each other but not as much. If this doesn't work and they're still pecking hard, I'll leave them in there unless they start getting hurt. In that case, then I have to build a new coop and let them start their own flock. :-)17
