Hi!

I'm new here and I'm new to poultry on the whole. I recently bought a chicken (2 months old) and was told it was a Polish paduan bantam, but the woman was really unsure about the name. I have a few pictures of her, so if anyone can identify her, I'd be very grateful! =)

Pavlor

Here's a video of her on youtube:

--- :) --heres a silkie girl a little younger -looks quite similar bar the feathers. RosIMG00236-20110517-1303.jpg

So not a Polish bantam in your opinion, then? The lady (a friend who got them from a breeder) said it would be smaller than a bantam though...

Yes, looks very similar!

---and heres a similar aged Poland for comparison.Ros

---if you compare them yours looks to have more a silkie face than Poland? :?

Very true. I need to get in touch with my friend! Still, Anabelle is very cute, whatever she is! Would be nice to know, though =)

blue skin says silkie and i would bet she/he has 5 toes too!

She has 4 toes! Three in front and one on the back. Does this mean she's not a silkie cross?

I'm going to start looking around the forum more, as I've never kept poultry (I had a duck when I was young, but I didn't take care of it - my parents did everything except feed it Wotsits, which I did... :-)07 ).

Could you tell me how old a hen is when it's fully grown as Anabelle is ostensibly a house chicken (I say ostensibly as she spends a lot of time outside, but is inside at night and in the evenings, when she's cuddling up to me under my chin on the sofa...)?

I've been watching some videos of hens (silkies and others) on YouTube, and she doesn't cluck like a chicken at all. She is very vocal but makes "peep" noises. Also, her "peeping" changes a lot, so I should imagine this is to do with how happy/unhappy she is. She gently "peeps" when she's wriggling under my chin, but never clucks...

I have been looking around the net for pictures that look like Anabelle. I found this:

A Pavlovski. Could she be this? I live in Finland which is next to Russia. The woman I bought Anabelle from said that there were very few of them in Finland and that she is smaller than a bantam.

Links to pictures of Anabelle's feet (no sign of a fifth toe!) and as you can see, there are signs of feather growth on her legs and ankle bits:
