Hi all....went to the Tuesday auction of poultry last week...you can imagine the auctioneer talking it all up.. 'These are pullets now some one give me a fiver each.'...yes! it was me...they were lovely birds..RIR's chicks....my mate comes over from the farm over the road...'Tim' he said 'you have been well stiched... they are all cockerels...you can all have a laugh on me tonight :D :-):-)...I may get it right one day

Are you sure it's not your mate winding you up Timmy? How old are these chicks because they won't sex until 8 plus weeks and then you need pullets to compare growth with? For Pedigree RIR chicks the price was right.

Hiya Chris..thanks for the provoking thought they I would say about six weeks...and knowing my mate...enough said...I'll keep you posted thanks Chris .

Oh dear - but I had to have a wry smile! Naughty of the auctioneer to list them as pullets if they weren't - and they can usually tell at a glance! I know my auctioneer can! :) For future reference - look at the legs, if they look thick then they're boys - if they look fine and feminine then they're girls! ;)

Now that is naughty! You are most certainly not thick though!

There are lots of tricks to disguise cockerels in the selling pen unfortunately!

You are not as bad as me Timmy.I remember bidding furiously on a gorgeous black cochin pullet... to find later I had paid £26 for a cockerel...(just the one thankfully!!)
