yesterday i got a letter from the council which was given to them by the surrey trading standards people and these were being sent out to everyone on allotment sites that kept poultry it was 3 sheets of a4 paper on how to keep poultry it made funny reading as it was all about why they need food , water etc for complete beginners its kinda ideal but its as if someone as copied the whole lot from a poultry forum .
and although i know i am not allowed to keep cockerals it didnt actully say you cant keep them just be carefull with noise levels but it also mentions geese which are a nogo zone for allotment sites around my area but maybe the councils are changing thier ways with allowing geese as they now allow ducks .even my dad said i could of writen better then what it was  but well done to them though for taking notice and doing this and reaslising that more and more people want to keep poultry .

At least you are allowed to keep poultry on your allotments, Karminski. no livestock allowed here although one old plot holder has photos of his Dad keeping pigs on the site during WW2.

Glad to see you are able to laugh today, anyway.

i actully did read somewhere on line that allotments were originally meant for livestock only and those rules have never changed , if only i could keep :-)05 :-)05 :-)05 :-)05 ummm , yeh feeling a bit happier today but one of my white leghorns aint looking to bright so of in a min to shut her away from the others for a good checking over and a bit of peace and quiet not bad this is the frist time in over 2 yrs one of them has been ill or shown signs .

I would expect them to welcome geese as a means of providing security Karminski. I could see pigs being a problem Marigold -only takes them escaping once to trash all the allotments even better than bored teenagers!

dont talk to me about geese only ever had one experience with them and although i would adore to keep them i think that was enough  especailly if you get one with an attitude :-)05

My granddad used to keep one pig on his allotment in London. He was only allowed to keep one and it was regularly checked to see that conditions were right for it and causing no problems. Come Christmas and it was slaughtered and butchered for distribution among the family. I never did work out how this one pig had 8 legs.
