Went down to hens Saturday evening, came back in at 7.45pm and noticed a van opposite at the entrance to the field, thought it was a bit odd but people do stop there, if lost or to nip behind the hedge to answer a call of nature. Thought I would get the number just in case, and the minute I decided that it shot off to reveal a pile of dumped rubbish. The brass neck of these people in broad daylight opposite a property in a narrow lane.
Then Sunday at 9pm they reappeared and I got the License number, they must have seen movement as they shot off before dumping any more.
Luckily all of Saturdays event was recorded on our CCTV, statement and footage now with council, plus they found an address in the fly tip.
Even better by 2pm Monday afternoon the council had been and removed it

Good for you! Fly tipping is a huge problem here too. Around Christmas last, on my half hour journey into town, on one stretch of road, I counted three sofas and two beds!! :shock: Didn't look to be much wrong with any of them, either. Obviously, people just changed their decor in time for Christmas. Even the radio ads promote that, don't they "Have your new suite (or carpets/flooring) in time for Christmas!" they blare, as if Christmas just couldn't happen if you didn't! Ridiculous. Whatever happened to the idea that furniture was supposed to last? I'm on my second sofa, and I got this one from my mum when she got a new suite. She'd had this one about 15 years, and I've had it about eight. My previous suite I also got from mum, who had had that one about 20 years, and I went on to keep it for at least another ten! Shabby, but comfy!

Well done bigyeti!. Hopefully they will have lovely big fine coming their way. It's become a big problem down here in S Bucks and I've noticed the fines being handed out are getting steeper and steeper. I do wonder though how much money it costs clearing away all this fly tipped waste and chasing after the tippers compared to how much it would cost to just waive the commercial waste charges and let them take their rubbish to a local tip for free.

Yes, where I live the local tip has recently started charging for householder's building rubble, £2.50 per carrier-bag-sized deposit. That adds up, when you've been doing a bit of DIY. Now our concrete mixer has worn out from long use, and been recycled itself, (I had to pay a gypsy to take it away, the Council said it wasn't on their list of large items they would collect from the door,) we've decided that out heavy lifting days are over and from now on we'll pay someone to do heavy jobs. But when I think of all the carloads of rubble and earth we've taken to the tip in days gone by, I can see the temptation for some people to just offload it in the wrong place. However, they still used to do this when it was free to take it to the recycling centre! Payment must add to fly-tipping problems, and I would have thought the cost of clearing up would possibly not be balanced by income from peoples' DIY bagfuls.
Well done, anyway, BYM. I hope your council will be able to bill the perpetrators for the cost of clearing up, as well as a fine. Not very bright, were they, to come in broad daylight, near to houses, and leave evidence of identity in the rubbish!

Just had an update and the van reg etc was Kosher and registered at an address in an affluent area, as was the address found in the fly tip, they paid these people £70 to take it away. Daft thing is, the stuff was old kids toys, paint tins, broken trellis and black sacks, which they could have got rid of for free at the local tip, in a couple of car trips
I am prepared to go to court as well if need be
Round here the fly tipping is largely 8 wheeler lorry loads being dumped along lanes, even the containers have been left behind. I was shown a pic of a man dumping a lorry load, 2 hours after he was fined £2000 and banned from driving his lorry for 6 months.
