Humidity too low in first 25 days?

I wouldn't move them during hatching Sarah. When youi take the hatched chicks out there is a risk of dropping the temp and humidity for a bit, so be very quick. Could sprinkle a little luckwarm water in there so it recovers fast.

I agree with Chris, moving them isn't ideal. I only live a three minute drive away so I ran them down as I can't have access to school over the weekend. I've had two hatch since then, the one that's still struggling and the one that came out yesterday but both have had eggs yolk sacs still asorbing so I don't know if this is due to me unplugging the incubator and the temp and humidity dropping whilst I moved them. If you can get access to the school over the weekend then check in on them rather than moving them. As Ethel hatched yesterday morning, she'd have been on her on for two days in the incubator if I'd have left it at school on Friday and she was certainly chipper this morning so another day in there would have been awful as she's done so much better being with my other 6. It's a massive learning experience though and I've learnt so much for next time I do this

Yeah I didn't think moving the incubator would be the best especially as I live further away than you. It is a massive learning curve isnt it! I am loving it so far but feeling very nervous for the hatch this week. Fingers crossed things go smoothly! Thanks for the advice

It is indeed a huge learning experience and you feel so responsible for everything that goes wrong. I've pestered everyone on here for weeks bless them. I've decided that I'm not really loving hatching at the mo as mines gone quite difficultly but you've got chickens with sharper beaks and every hatch is different so look forward to it, it's so rewarding to get a cuddle :)

It is enjoyable but a big responsibility Hanlills. As I've said before though, the condition of the eggs when you got them was out of your hands, so you can only do your best with what you were given and I think you've done a pretty good job so far!

The lady who got them for our school got them from her friend as her ducks wern't laying, (her child also goes to the school) she also took on some eggs (14) and only had one hatch. We're thinking we either put them into incubate too close to the end of the time frame window from where they were layer or like you said there was a problem with the eggs. Thank you for all of your help with everything, it means a lot to hear someone say a 'well done' when you feel a bit lost in it all lol
