How long to break out the shell

Hi. I have some bantum eggs in my incubator at the moment, they are starting to pip but then seem to be taking forever to go any further, One egg has been going for 24hrs now and at least 2 of them are pipping at the sharp end of the egg. They are on day 21 but just seem to be having difficulty hatching, any suggestions gratefully received.
 
Hi, what is your humidity like? and temp? You need to up the humidity if you can- to at least 60% but higher is better. try adding some warm water and leave the lid on- don't keep opening the lid othrwise the humidity will drop. They should hatch ok- even at the wrong end. Good luck and keep us informed.

Hi, great news! How exciting I just hatched 19.. It can take up to 48 hours for them to hatch, I find that after they make the first pip they will stay like that for hours before deciding to start chipping round the egg to get out. When they start rotating and chipping the shell in a circular shape it happens fairly quickly normally a couple of hours. With the ones pipped at the sharp end do you mean the pointed end as opposed to the rounded end? If so they may have difficulty but I always leave them at least 2 days from pipping before helping, I know some people don't help at all but if it means life or death I know what I would rather do.... It's not nice and takes a long time last time I successfully helped a chick out it took me 6 hours! Hopefully you won't have to do that! Awww please keep us updated and it will be great to see some pics when they're out :-) I have a bantam egg due on Monday can't wait they mist be so small!!
 
Hi. I have the humidity at 66% at the moment and I do mean the pointed end, sounds like I am just being an over anxious father. I've only ever hatched large fowl before and they have always popped out no bother. Thanks for the reassurance folks, I will sit on my hands a bit longer :)
 
Just had a look in the incubator after my last post to find 2 of the chicks that hatched earlier pecking at one of the slow pipping eggs and they have helped the process no end, I have now removed them in case they do any damage, but it would be nice to think they were trying to help their sibling. I will keep you posted :-)17
 
Hi again. 6 chicks have hatched successfully, what a relief, thanks for the advice I will post some pictures soon. :D

They are soooooooooo lovely. I'm jealous, would love to hatch some but am waiting for one of my girls to go broody. A couple were broody in mid winter and now its typical they're not :lol:
