How do I use a Southwest travel credit for a new booking?
Using a Southwest travel credit is easy and a great way to save on your next trip. Whether you canceled a flight or received compensation, credits can be redeemed online or by phone.

If you go online, enter your flight details as usual and proceed to the payment screen. There, you’ll see the option to apply your travel credit. It’s listed under “Apply travel funds.”

You can use multiple travel credits for one booking, as long as they’re under the same passenger name. Keep in mind that travel credits are non-transferable.

For those uncomfortable using online systems, booking with a credit over the phone is an excellent alternative. Call

Let the agent know upfront that you wish to use travel credits. Provide your old confirmation number, and they’ll verify the amount and apply it to your new booking.

If your new fare costs more than your credit, you can pay the difference with a card. If it’s less, the remaining credit can still be used for future travel.

Travel credits can be used for base fares and taxes but not for EarlyBird Check-In or other add-ons. Always verify this during checkout or by calling the agent.

Southwest also now offers “flight credits” that no longer expire, but only for flights booked on or after July 28, 2022. Older credits may still have deadlines, so confirm when using them.

Keeping track of your credits is easy through the Southwest website or app. Visit “My Account” and select “View Travel Funds” to monitor your balances.

To summarize, using a Southwest travel credit is simple if you have your information ready and act before expiration. Don’t hesitate to call +1 (855) 217-1878
