I have an issue regarding the best solution to housing chicks. I have 2 Pilgrim Geese (1 week old) hatched in the incubator and currently in a brooder. I also have 2 call ducks that have nested on our land that have eggs due to hatch in a weeks time. The nests are not in a safe or secure position !
Do I move the Pilgrim geese to the outside but separate them from the other ducks and hens with poultry netting or do I leave them in the brooder (they are quickly outgrowing it) ?
What about the call ducks ? Do I wait for the ducklings to hatch before moving them with the mother into an enclosed run or would they be safe going in with the adult ducks and drakes? Or do I take them away from the mother and put them in the brooder for a few weeks until they are big enough to go with the others ?
Sorry about all the questions (I hadn't planned for the call ducks becoming broody!).
Any help appreciated !

Hi,
Goslings need to be kept on heat till about 3 weeks, but depending on how warm it is outside they could be out on grass in the day (it's not warm enough here in North Yorks or any place else in the UK today but it was yesterday!).When they do go out in their outdoor run make sure there is a covered area in case of rain. I would keep them seperate till at least fully feathered and then careful intruduction. If they are separated by the poultry netting they can get to know and recognise each other in safety.
As to the call duck I would think it better to let them hatch and then move to safety in an enclosed run and let mum continue to raise them.
