We got hit by Storm Callum on Friday night, but I see on the news that, although the West of Ireland got the worst of it here, it still wasn't nearly as badly hit as parts of the UK were when it reached you!

Hope everyone on poultrykeeper is ok, and that no one has suffered too much damage. xx

Some much-needed lovely rain here, nearly two inches, in Hampshire - has interrupted a paving project, but has made me take a morning indoors, cleaning the house properly after several weeks' hard work in the garden. Might even tackle the ironing this afternoon.
And I got lawn fertiliser down before it started, now well washed in and safe for Poppy's paws.

I was driving yesterday, windy day, and I saw something in the road, a black solid- looking object, about 2 ft. long. First I thought it was an old log - then I interpreted it as a dead cat with the curve of its back towards me - then for an even more horrific moment it looked more like a leg, in black trousers - by then, I was upon it, and saw that actually it was a bundle of black plastic. Whew!

Just got our Mac back from repair- needed an upgrade and a new battery. Have had just 30mm of rain here in 4 months and are waiting for the storms and heavy rain this afternoon or evening. Fertiliser put down all over the place waiting to get washed in, particularly on the now brown new grass which will hopefully become a chicken enclosure over Winter. The ground remains far too hard to dig in posts at the moment.

See Portugal has had a very bad time. It's been a funny year here, especially yesterday which saw new record temperatures for October set all over France. Protests today over global warming, although we'd be happy for a warm Winter as fuel oil prices are up over 30% from last year- in fact everything has gone up dramatically and France is certainly no longer a cheap place to live!

Glad everyone is ok, especially the parts of Wales and Portugal that have suffered with various weather systems
Weird weather in the South East, hot with a warm wind, rather like being in a thermal wind tunnel. The promised downpour all day today has seen patchy light rain on and off.
Glad it was only a plastic bag Marigold. OH has walked the lane this morning and came back with a bagful of rubbish thrown from cars, said she does wonder when she sees a tied bag as to what is in it.

Ok in Notts. Was very windy on Friday, beautiful yesterday and rain all day today, so far. Pleased nobody suffering from the storms.

Storms! What storms? ???
(17.20 hours, sun shining, G and T waiting).

Was gorgeous here today too! But I understand parts of Wales has taken a right hammering, and a couple of people died in the storms.

Enjoy the G & T Hen -Gen. Glad you have sunshine. You have had quite a bit of dodgy weather recently.
There is no truth in the rumour that Margaid, Marigold and I have visited Wales which is the reason for the right downpour they got. Ex PP members will remember no doubt us all planning to meet at Glaslyn only to be thwarted by flooding

We did have an interesting day together, though, and it did clear up in the afternoon. It was nice to know what you all look like, and I hope more of us can meet up someday.
There used to be a section on PP Forum where people posted photos of themselves. Would anyone else be willing/interested, if we started that thread on here?

Oops, sorry, I was in Sennybridge last Saturday. Have had a fair soaking in Shropshire both Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. By 3 pm it was clearing up nicely and as a result is much colder tonight.

I've been housebound for the weekend. Hurt my back the other day in the garden, and then went down with tonsillitis! So, with the weather not great either, I made use of the time. Cleared out remaining tomatoes and made the most amazing chutney! Tomato & red pepper. And also made Christmas puddings! Yay, done and out of the way, and stored away in a dark cupboard!!
Sometimes, we need a bit of not so nice weather, so we can get on with stuff indoors without feeling that we "should" be doing something outside, or going for a walk, or whatever! And I NEED time alone, so yesterday, I literally didn't go outside my own gate. The furthest I went was to the chicken run. Never spoke to a soul all day. Was great!!

We had some rain which has washed in the fertiliser. If anyone has heard the news about the disastrous flooding in Aude, fortunately it's away East from us. At least 6 drowned overnight when their cars were washed off the roads in the worst flooding since 1891. Fire brigade can't cope with all the calls with 250 unanswered at the moment. All schools closed as are many roads and the rail system.

LadyA, struck down with illness yet you cleared out the old tomatoes, made chutney and made Christmas puddings. Id love to see what you manage when you’re firing on all cylinders!

Hope you are soon on the mend Lady A. Tonsillitis is pretty nasty.
Christmas puds made here on Friday.
After the poor effort the rain made during the day, we got a right soaking in the night and the brook overflowed into the lake, so the ducks and geese are swimming around most happy today

I've just seen that. How dreadful. I read that one person was drowned after being washed away in a flash flood while they were sleeping! :o

I'm almost completely recovered, thankfully! A gland on one side of my neck is still a tiny bit tender, but otherwise, I'm fine again. Coughing a little, but I've always got a cough, for some reason. My doc thinks it's something to do with my vocal chords. They get easily irritated or something. She did refer me to an ENT specialist some years ago, but after 2 1/2 years, I was contacted and asked if I wanted to remain on the waiting list (i.e. "Are you still alive?! ). I felt that if the cough was anything sinister, it would surely have gotten worse, or I'd have started feeling unwell in all that time, so I took myself off the waiting list. There are people far worse off needing appointments. And, four years further on, it hasn't changed. Still have a little cough, but hasn't gotten any worse.

Fabulous day here today! Sun is shining, birdies are singing, bees are going bananas, not a breath of wind!! But the sycamore leaves are coming down fast and furious, so we know that Winter is peering around the corner.

A bit late to all this, but just wanted to record sorrow for those poor people in France, coming on top of the pictures from the US (twice) and Spain, it certainly has been a mad, bad and dangerous to know few weeks. Like you Chris, the weather has been topsy turvy. We've had the hottest September on record, and it is only recently that we have ventured back into long sleeves and trews, although the fire is almost needed for the evenings now.

We were in Lisbon, which was threatened with dire predictions on Saturday night, but the actuality was like a normal wet weekend in England, although I know 2 hours north of there got hit badly.

I sometimes think I am going to adopt LadyA for her positive energy!

Your mention of Xmas puds has reminded me to buy some pickling onions, thanks!
