Hello to you all, I have just joined this forum and we need help.
Last Tuesday are goose was attacked by a dog and has been injured around his rear end his partner was killed by the dog. We have been down to are vet's and we have treatment for him. The problem is he is drinking water and he has had some food I don't think it's enough, is there something I could pour down his throat as some kind of liquid feed.
At the moment he is living in are front room, I have taken him outside onto the garden for grass but all he does is come back into the house.
Any help would be most welcome.
Cheers Alan

I don't have any experience of geese Alan, but an old reference book I have says to give them 5oz (150g) of wet mash in a morning. The makeup of this mash is very similar for chickens, so if you can get rearer pellets (poulette) and mix them with water, that should do it. Be aware that the stuff goes off quickly so don't mix more than you need. He may well be in shock and that will stop him eating.

Stray dogs are a major problem everywhere over here and we've had problems with one hen killed and eaten and another badly injured. You need your stock behind a strong fence. Chicken wire won't stop chasse dogs so if that is used it needs protection with electrified line above and outside. The alternative is to have your own substantial dog.
