furst time using incubator eggs keep cracking before hatching time advice please

Hi
What do you mean by the eggs keep cracking, and at what date?
What temperature and humidity do you have the incubator at, and how often do you turn the eggs?

Sue

my incubator is a digital R-Com and the temperature is set at 37.c .eggs began to crack at four days the otherts at around two weeks. The eggs was purchased on ebay ,was i wrong to place them straightaway in the incubator?

I would think they were probably damaged when you got them hairline cracks are very difficult to spot or maybe the shell are weak ? Hope you didnt pay a lot for them .

I'm confused do you mean small hairline cracks?

You should candle eggs before putting them into the incubator to check for cracks - eggs can have hairline cracks in them and these should not be set - as they heat up and expand, I guess the crack may open a little more and you are then seeing it...

With future eggs,do leave them for 24 hrs to reach normal room temperature before setting them in your incubator.Store them pointed end down.
They need to settle after the journey and gradually reach a warmer temp before going in your incubator.

The eggs you bought could have been old, when buying eggs first test the eggs with a candeller to check there are no cracks in the eggs then secondly check how old the eggs are by placing the eggs in water. If the eggs rise and float upwards then they are old, if they lay flat on the bottom they are fresh.
I have a r-com 20 keep at 37.5 and humidity 45% but I would put a seperate thermometer inside as I find they are not 100% accurate.
Keep eggs that have been posted to you in a room for 24 hours to rest before incubating.

Sue
