My baby sister Henny Penny is unwell, even 'N.F.' mum is concerned, she is still eating and drinking, and, her pooh's are normal, but, her wattle and comb are really pale pink and she can't stay awake.
Yesterday, she lost her balance and couldn't get up.'N.F.' mum picked her up and put her back on her feet,we have been wormed, and 'N.F' mum is giving Henny Penny nettex immune booster daily, but, she isn't improving :( ,I really like my baby sister, she's cute and looks up to me,please help  .

Oh no SS poor HP.Lots of causes of general debility/illness can cause pallor or possibly anaemia. Infections ,worms, mites etc knowing you ,you will have excluded. As chickens (especially pooties amongst others) are so prone to various neurological and immunological problems AND as she is SUCH a precious bird Id get your NFM to take her to the chicken Doctor -if shes pale and sleepy I am afraid theres something going on with your sister and the sooner the cause is discovered the easier it is to treat. Good luck Ss , let us know how she gets on . Get well soon HP. Ros and the spotty cousins. x

Hi Lydia
I am so sorry Henny Penny died, she was such a lovely bird with a great character. I know it is no consolation but I have just hatched some white booted bantams, I will keep you the friendliest for you.
Will ring you later.

Sue

 Sadly,Henny Penny did die yesterday, just after 'N.F.' mum had made an appointment with the vet.'N.F.' mum is very upset,as is Jenny and Peter,so,it's up to me to try and comfort them all.It is very strange with out Henny Penny,we all miss her soooooo much.

Thank-you Osric,I'll tell 'N.F.' mum in the morning when she lets us out.It will help her to feel better I'm sure.
It's sad,she opens the pop hole to our house,me and Jenny come tumbling down the ramp and she looks for Henny Penny to follow.....

So very sorry you lost Henny Penny lydia.

I lost one of my little girlies last week i think the cold got to her as she was still quite a young little bantam. So i know how you all must feel !!

Kindest Regards John

I am sorry to hear you lost one as well John.It is horrid isn't is,Henny Penny was still quite young, the cold definitely doesn't help.It also seems to be ones that because of their character are one of your favourites that go young.

Hi lydia

Yep it does seem that the favorite ones that have strong characters seem to come to pass at times. And it never quite feels the same when you loose that special hen !! But at least we can be rest assured that they all had a really great lives while they was here amongst us !!

Kind Regards John

That is very true,I just find it extra sad when they pass away at this time of year, when it's damp and cold.If they're going to go,I'd rather they had the sun on their backs and were warm-silly of me I know.

Oh I am so sorry Lydia - it's so upsetting when one dies - she most certainly had a good quality of life though which is always a comfort.

thanks Anne, and everyone, you're the only people who understand. When I tell anyone else, they just go 'oh' and look at me as if I'm deranged......which I am :D ,but chickens are people to.They deserve quality life and respect.....and cuddles,t.l.c.,treats,sun etc etc.
