Hello!

I have been dreaming of keeping chickens for years now and, having finally moved to the country a year ago, I purchased my first ever hen house today! Hubby still needs to build the run before we get our girls, but we're getting there with all the plans! I hope to keep a few ex-bats and give them a better home.

Anyway, if anyone has any good tips to look out for when setting up a home for your chickens, I'd love to hear them. I'm sure I will become a frequent visitor to these pages!

Hi helen welcome to the slippery slope of chicken keeping, lol  thats just how i started with a few ex batts

Hiya Helan, a warm welcome :D

There are a few articles on Ex Battery Hens on the site that you may want to read - the FAQ I put together with a rehoming charity and should cover most of your immediate questions...

We're always here though - there are lots of really great people on the forum who can help ;)

Thank you all for such a warm welcome!

We've been out in the garden today preparing the area that will be home for our chickens when we get them! We plan to have a large run for them to run about in during the day whilst I'm at work, but then to let them out to roam in the garden when we get home in the evenings before dark and at weekends. I can't wait!!

Thanks for the link Tim. I'll have a good read through and post any questions I have on here! Lucky you!

Thanks all

Helen
