Hello all! Just a little introduction! Got three hybrid girlies after local school got some chickens and kids were entranced. So far they have bullied the cat, scared the guinea pigs (who thought the chooks were hawks) and raided the lush garden next door via an old fence (now kind of repaired - it's the neighbours fence and been waiting for them to sort it for 10 years now).
As we only have a small town garden we wouldn't be able to fit in any more which is probably a good thing for the cat. They act as magnets for the local kids and are quite happy to have their feathers ruffled by them in return for some corn. We have an allotment but chickens are not allowed there due to vandalism and foxes.
What I've found most interesting is how many people I know used to keep chickens and how many wonderful stories have been remembered as a result of our little flock.
Looking forward to learning lots more about chicken rearing.
