Thought it would be a good idea to get the chickens use to me by picking one up and hand feeding her corn. In theory it should have worked. Lured our warren called Teetra (don't ask) into my clutches and dipped my hand into the tin of corn hidden beside me. She was very happy, but I was sitting down and the others weren't so pleased! Overcoming their shyness, I ended up with one in my lap, one on my knee, why one was on my shoulder i've no idea and the last was trying to scramble up my side  At this point she managed to knock the lid off the tin of corn! Need I say more. Managed to crawl away with the tin, much to their displeasure and definately need a cup of tea after that effort

:D , don't think you need have any more worries about taming them then.

I think you're right. Let them out of the run for the second time this evening for a roam around but they followed me everywhere and when I picked up the tin and headed for the run, they legged it after me. Getting them back in was sooo easy. :D

Yes, corn can be very useful for that. I just shout "come on girls" and they make a beeline for the enclosure where they know they will get some corn.

Today, when I lit the BBQ, I lured my 6 pekins into the enclosure in the normal way and gave them a bowl of soaked meal worms which they gobbled up in pure delight, also drinking all the water in the bowl after the worms had gone. I was glad this worked because they free range for most of the day and I ama little concerned that they are not drinking enough in this heat. I gave them wet peas this morning, so hopefully they will be OK on the water front.

The hens are quite friendly now and follow me around the garden thinking I am the corn lady. Trying to socialise them with our dog and cat which is a bit worrying. The dog is better than the cat, she just tries to chase them all the time. She is 9 months and obviously thinks everything is to be played with! :( I'm sure they'll all get there eventually!

 Going to have to get me some of that corn then! Managed to get my girls chasing me tonight when i was taking their food back out to their run to get them back in for the night. Was so funny watching them running. Kim

Yeah, you can't help but giggle at them, especially when they try to fly and run at the same time
