The UK top 40 I mean. To some it may be an impenetrable list of people that they have never heard of, singing songs that they have never heard. If that applies to you, then take a look at this weeks chart and see how many songs you recognise. Perhaps people are missing their three month fix of shop played Christmas tunes.

We were talking Christmas songs today. OH loves Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, the song that is, few drinks and she will rock around the tree as well :lol:
I think people just want a bit of Christmas cheer and a good old sing a long. Can't see The Ramones in there though with "Merry Christmas I don't want to Fight"
 
When I was in Morrison's yesterday they were playing 'All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!'
 
I've been tuning in to "Christmas FM" on the radio every day. It's very restful, because it's just wall to wall Christmas music with requests & greetings. No news bulletins, just traffic reports every now and then.
 
Very good, Hen-Gen! A cross between a barber's shop quartet & a folk group, with a dash of Chas & Dave!!!

This has reminded me of the Good Life when Margo had to cancel Christmas because Harrod's couldn't deliver the hamper
 
Oh I loved The Good Life with posh Margo and the gorgeous Barbara. Brilliant old TV programme, unlike today's offerings, eg Chelsea housewives.
 
Oh I loved that as well. Especially the dry wit. I loved Derek Fowlds as the secretary especially his skit on who reads which paper.
 
It was the one from 1985 with the health secretary proposing reforms of cigarette sales and advertising, which would have sounded far-fetched then, but have all happened now.

One of my faves too. I have the series on dvd, and have watched it several times. There are just some that you can watch over the years, and appreciate them each time. The Good Life, To the Manor Born, Some Mothers do 'ave 'em, All Creatures Great & Small and the absolutely wonderful Sherlock Holmes set with Jeremy Brett.
 
The present rerun of The vicar of Dibley is lovely ( but not the new episodes, she should have let well alone.)
And if course Fawlty Towers and Dads Army. I’m glad that nowadays shows seem to have dropped that awful dubbed audience laughter though. And anything with Toby Jones is pure high class, especially the more recent The Detectorists, both seasons.
 
I love The Vicar of Dibley. I never saw it the first time around, so it has been a god send, so to speak. ;-) All Creatures Great and Small, oh my, that reminds me of Sundays when my Nana would stay for lunch and at tea time we would have bread and dripping, then trifle afterwards, which Mum let me decorate. Happy days. :-)

I used to borrow the Jacques Cousteau series on dvd from the library years ago, because my husband loved wildlife and travel documentaries. I hadn't known until quite recently that Jacques Cousteau actually invented scuba diving tanks!
 
he was a truly remarkable man, he was my introduction into the wonders of the ocean and conservation, he was passionate about sharks and not treating them as demons. To see him in a cage next to them was truly amazing to a child.

Another favourite comedy programme. Porridge.
