hi, i,ve had four chick's hatch last night so far, but what i'm concerned about is that some of the other egg's have just started pipping, and the four chick's are trampling all other them, will this hinder them hatching

No it generally doesn't. In fact some would say it encourages the other chicks to come out. In the wild, they all would need to hatch within a few hours so they would all be ready to leave the nest at the same time or perish.
You can move the hatched ones out if you feel you need to but don't give them any food or water for 24 hours as they live off the yolk sac till then.
Seems like you're in for a successful hatch.

I think two things happen Gazeds. They must get slightly disorentated but as Chuck says they are probably encouraged to hatch by the noise and movement of the hatched chicks. At day 18 we move the eggs from the incubator to a hatcher. Under each egg I place a 3mm slice of pipe insulation (28mm bore, 13 wall) which stops them from rolling about. Not sure it helps significantly but it puts my mind at rest.

just to say eleven egg's out of seventeen hatched 4 light sussex bantam's, three araucana's, two barnvelder's, and two cross breed's, i had twenty five egg's in the incubator to start, but eight candled infertile. So very pleased with the chick's, but a bit disappointed with the number that hatched.Have to say though, it's quite an experiance

11/17 of the fertile eggs hatched is good and most of us would be pleased with that. 8/25 infertile is a bit high but not too bad from a mixed bag. You will know which batch of eggs had the highest % of infertiles so you could make adjustments if you want to set any more.

Enjoy them.

the barnvelders where the worst for infertility 4 out of 6, yet my freind purchased 7 from the same lady, and put them under a broody silkie and had 7 chick's, two week's previous. By the way just moved the remainder of the chick's into the brooder and noticed a little pip in one of egg's left in the incy, so i'll just hang on a while before switching the incubator off.

Thank's Claire, im hopeing to fill mine by the end of the week
