Hello All,

Took delivery today and have a couple of questions.

1. The turning options are 1hr, 2hr or 3hr, from what iv'e read of manual turning it seems five times a day is sufficient, so on the 1hr option thats 24 turns a day, is that too much?

2. Once I get to day 18 and stop turning should I put something (towel, kitchen paper) under the eggs to give the emerging chicks something to grab onto? And also remove the dividers?

12 Rhode Island Red eggs ordered from chocolateorpingtonchicken.com on their way.

At the moment thats all, but I'm sure there will be more questions to come. Cracking info on the rest of the forum and it's been a great help with the other three chickens.

Hello, i use these incubators- is it the standard model? if so, hourly is fine for turning- at day 18/19 stop turning and remove dividers- try and get some hatching mat ( ebay or similar) and place in the bottom- to let them get a griip- you can buy a proper r-com hatching mat i think- i only use them to incubate- i hatch in a separate still air hatchmaker but i have hatched in them before with no problems. The r-com pro is a better machine - does everything for you- stops turning, raises humidity etc automatically. Good luck with your hatch,
regards, David :)

Hi David,

Yup its the standard model. I'll have a look around for a hatching mat and go with the hourly turning then, thanks for your reply. Impatient for the eggs to arrive!
