Gunpowder, Treason & Plot!

Okaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!

There are loads of fireworks going off here this evening! Every single neighbour I have seems to be having a party!

It's noisy BIG TIME. I've covered my hawks aviaries as I do every year and also my chooks too but that doesn't mask the noise. Is there anything I can do in the morning that will help them adjust to the stress of this evening?

The hens are probably sleeping through it all and will be fine. The only thing that may worry them, if your sound efficient cover is at all effective, is the reduction in ventilation overnight by covering the coop. Certainly they will not remember it tomorrow, just carry on as normal. But of course, you want to make it up to them by giving them a little treat, you could always try letting them out for a walk in the garden.....

Shirley, I was really worried about mine last year, put temporary covers over the houses to try and muffle the noise, even put a radio on in the run!!! Ok, I can hear you all laughing now! :) But this year I didn't do anything and there were rockets exploding right over their house. I checked them when it was all over and they were all asleep! - one or two were not very happy being woken up by me opening the door! So don't worry Shirley, they'll be fine.
 
I think the flashes cause more problems than the bangs. With the eaves overhanging the vents we didn't have a problem last year. No problem at all this year of course, but when is Bastille day?
 
Well, the ladies were fine this morning - even had two new laid eggs!

Clearly it didn't worry them at all. :)

Plenty of time to prepare then Margaid.

Our chicks have a radio Shirley. It plays a classical French channel all day. When I switch it off they know it's time for bed and gather under the electric hen prior to 'lights out'. With only 9 hours of daylight they have extra light morning and night to give them a 14 hour day- as they would have had if they were hatched in Spring.
