Greetings poultry keepers

Hi thanks Chris :) Yes, quail.

I tried keeping chickens but when they arrived from the battery farm in a box I was shocked to realise that they were the size of a small dog! The cat was frightened to go in the garden.

I enjoyed keeping bantams for a while with their fluffy little feet but they were often broody so I ended up with quite a few and had to move so they were rehomed as I no longer had enough space.

Quail are great, not broody at all, require very little space and they make loads of little blue eggs which are easy to find even with my eyesight.

Most people here seem to keep chickens but hopefully more quail keepers will stop in.

Do you know if it’s mostly uk based on this forum or birds/humans from elsewhere also? It doesn’t show my location, I’m in the East Midlands.

This is Brewster.. I give him meal worms and he calls his hens over with a bock bock bock sound that doesn’t work for me if I do it but they all come running for the worm.
He has his favourites but they all tend to get a couple each.

You can add your location if you go into your account and hunt a bit- took ages to find mine, but there is somewhere to put it. Whilst mine says 'Gascony France' I am actually from the Midlands, originally Derbyshire then Staffordshire. Most of the original members were from the UK, but I don't think there are many around now because Facebook sites have become the fashion, for reasons unknown to me. We have had members from all over the world though, the limitation is simply the language.
