My three year old brecon buff female was found on her back paddling legs in the air. When righted she staggered around as if drunk and her neck seems to be in a slight 's' shape with a lump at the base. Brought her into barn with her mate as she keeps falling over and shaking her head. Recently wormed so not gizzard worm which makes them go off their legs anyway and she does want to keep moving. Eating and drinking OK but looking sorry for herself. Googled symptoms and found something called Riemerella anatipestifer Infection. However her droppings are normal and this disease causes changes to droppings so not sure. Will consult vet on Monday but wondered if anyone has heard of similar symptoms in geese?

Hi, sgil, welcome to the forum! :-)99 :-)99 :-)99 :-)99
I havent heard about such symptoms in ducks, but I think it definately wise to contact a vet as soon as possible. Please keep us updated.
thanks

Hi Sgil

I did read about similar symptoms in a goose in the USA. The cause was a gut infection from the water which had become foul during the warm summer months. Could that possibly be the cause. Emergency treatment was copious amounts of clean drinking water to dilute the toxins from the bacterial infection.

Best of luck.

Pete
