Oh! Yes. That would explain the odd randomly layed egg - If they don't release a yoke that day then they might not nest and so might lay wherever it happens.
24 hour of course. 12 would be pretty remarkable!
 
Great to see your spectacular photos of the day out! I'm sure it was brilliant for their diet and for the health of your allotment. I hope the eggs tasted good afterwards. I wonder if something like an old cat basket might be easier for transport on their next trip. I think they might hop through that hessian. Thanks for sharing the pics.
 
Thanks Chickenfan. They turned over the top surface and de-weeded it nicely. My first thought was the cat carrier that I took Betty to the vet in but it was a bit small for 2. Will keep an eye out for a bigger one at the dump shop.
I've been swapping mulch from the plot to the coop so the pickings wernt new to them but they spent the whole time scratching so it was fun.
 
Cheers! I would like to say it was chicken power but the fact is its a friends plot and I only share a corner of it :)
