I suspect my chickens have gapeworm as the symptoms described fit those my birds are displaying ,I have ordered flubenvet and wondered how soon after treatment should they stop gasping and rattling ?

The treatment is for 7 days but our bird's poos don't return to normal until about 5 days afterwards. Are you sure it isn't a respiratory problem?

Are you sure its gapeworm? And by gasping do you mean gasping (as in gasping for breath) or gaping, streching out the neck and opening beak and ''gaping''? Gasping and rattling are signs of respiratory disease or infection. Can you please post a bit more info on the symptoms?
Thanks :D

Agree - the two problems can look very similar.

At least if wormed with Flubenvet and there's no improvement, you can assume it's not Gapeworm...
