Some of us may not realise that an ad-free version of Poultrykeeper forum is available for a small annual subscription. Details are hidden away in the admin posts at the top of the menu, where people seldom go once registered. See http://poultrykeeperforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10770

Those of us who pay towards server hosting costs get an ad-free version of the Forum. Clicking ads generates a very small amount, but not enough to make a realistic contribution to costs, and advertisements generate their own spam links all over your own devices.

The suggested contribution to costs is £10 a year, but if you can afford a bit more, it would help. Just divide by 12 to work out how much you'll be paying per month, compared with magazine subscriptions or other forms of entertainment and information! Last year's total was helpful, but to fully cover costs it needs to be maintained or increased.

Although the forum is free to everybody who visits, the hosting costs are paid for out of his own pocket by Tim Daniels, who started the forum 10 years ago. Tim is now too busy with his job and family to post very often, although he puts in many hours registering newcomers who are often never heard of again, and screening out and dealing with spammers. When, as moderator on here, I see a problem, he always does his best to sort it out as fast as possible.

I would really miss the Forum, not only for the poultry advice, but because we are like family down here in the Dustbath, I love all the witty contributions and funny stories, and also the way everyone is accepted and valued, how sometimes we can talk about things that might be divisive elsewhere on the internet.

We discussed this at length last year, in this thread, which you may like to re-read.

If you want to comment, please come back to this update thread, to keep things on track. And please - support Tim and Poultrykeeper by sending your contribution now. Thank you.

Thanks for reminder, Marigold. I was thinking just the other day that it must be time to contribute again, but wasn't sure how. Just paid now.

Thank you Marigold. I appreciate your support and keeping things on track as always!

For anyone that doesn't know, I travel with my job, so I have little time these days and I'm rather inactive on the forum.
I do however go through new registrations by hand every week to make sure we keep spam off the forum and keep the server running so I'm sort of lurking in the background ;-)

I really appreciate the support with the server running costs, we just about covered them last year which was great.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reminder Marigold, and thank you Tim for keeping the Forum going. The Dustbath section of the Forum is something of a lifeline for me and I'd hate to lose it.

I would like to make a very small donation.
The problem is I don't, and won't use Paypal or any other net payment scheme that requires registration and the gathering of personal information.
Is there a workaround?
While I'm not a major forum participant, chickens are far more interesting, I think the main site is the best chicken site on the Internet.
