 cannot believe the rotten weather soaking my newly constructed chicken coop before it's finished - basically it got too dark on sunday so we covered it up to complete tomorrow/saturday before the girls arrive on Sunday. Now the gales have blown off the covering ( despite bricks and rope tying down tarp) and i have got up (following night duty) to find it socking wet.
I am now really concerned about it drying out in time - any suggestions? :-)09

I know how you feel. We've had nothing but rain over here for weeks. Our poor girls would be knee deep in water if my hubby didn't scoop it all out with a bucket. If we had ducks they would love it.

Is the coop too big to go in a shed or garage with some sort of heater on? Failing that, newspapers or something to soak up the water?

The initial build was in the garage but it is actually quite big so hubby decided to construct the rest outside in its final position ( would never of moved it otherwise) - at the moment the front is not complete so water is passing through the build - no actual puddles inside though. i was hoping to paint he floor with paint to help ease of cleaning but can't really do that in this weather

I have to say, I am really fed up with the rain  And I very rarely complain about the weather......

We did a new coop for our little flock and are still waiting to felt the roof.... The only day we could have done it, we couldn't cos the felt was in my van at the garage being fixed........

Good luck and hope you get dried out.
