Hi, all.
Yes I'm a first timer and this is the best site i have found so far, I currently have 6 Pekins incubating and were on day 7. My husband candled yesterday and he said they all have the dot n spider thingy inside so I'm quite excited to think we might have all 6 hatch. I will let you know with our progress just thought i'd come on and join in the fun.

Ah that made me laugh! Sounds like you're in for some fun then!

Glad you like the site. The site was started last October so still quite young, the forum only last month so still a bit of work to do on both but we're getting there..

These forums are a great help when your starting out..
Lookforward to hearing about your first Hatch. :P

ooOOoo I'm excited now, were on day 18, I've filled the water up this morning in the incubatorshall i spray them before i go to bed or just leave them completly now?? :D

Personally, I don't spray eggs - but you do need to keep the humidity high for the last couple of days. Hopefully you'll here the odd cheap around day 20 / 21 before they hatch.

Good Luck!

OK Guys were on day 20 and i can hardly contain myself. all 6 eggs have moved and i've caught some rocking back and forth do you reckon it will be tonight as they haven't yet pipped but lots of movement. ooooo please don't say they'll all be tomorrow lol. ok i'l be patient and just wait. x

You really are excited aren't you!! :D

Remember - golden rule - Do not be tempted to help out! Keep the lid on even after the first few chicks are out (keep them in there for 7-12 hours or more) they need to dry off and you don't want to lose humidity for the others. Chicks don't need to eat or drink for the first 24 hours.

Some people help out if chicks are overdue and have pipped and don't seem to be making progress after 24 hours but it can take a while for the yolk sack to be fully absorbed so don't get too eager! This can be hit and miss. There's a strong argument that says if they are too weak to hatch, they won't make very healthy birds...

Good Luck - it's a wonderful time.... ;) chances are the first chick will hatch tonight / early hours of tomorrow, there's some movement and cheaping and then the battle to break free of the shell for some time before they emerge.

OK New update... theres a crack....OOoooo how long after a crack appears?? or do they have a rest for a bit?? I'm gonna have to stay up all night now just watching!

yes came out at 9.30am or so.... just waiting on the others, the chick has disturbed them i think although we just had 2 pip and the cracks are growing a little bit bigger. 2 of the eggs haven't moved today so I'm a bit worried. ooooo what to do.... TIM HELP HAHA :)

There out, we got 4 in the end, 2 dead in shell which upset me a bit... there all eating, drinking and pooing which is good. the last one is smaller than the rest but i think thats cos we helped her out as (we thought) she had got stuck but shes fine, ooooh it was lovely to watch. can't wait for our next hatch now. haha not yet it was a stressful birth lol. thanks for all your advice Tim.
