Hi Fiona, welcome to the Forum.

You might find Tim's post helpful, on 'Help with posting photos' in the Photos of Chickens section at http://poultrykeeperforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=77
Basically it's quite like sending an attachment in an e-mail.
Looking forward to seeing your pics of your bird.

Which show are you thinking of entering? Shows will have cages set ready for the birds, it does help though to get a bird used to cages by training for a few days before, a small dog cage will do. Also washing is important, a week before in a gentle baby shampoo. With pekins it is important to take care over the feathered feet.

Hi Fiona. Take her in any dark box with air holes and then transfer her to your allocated show pen. Is she used to standing in a pen and being handled by strange people? Half the showing art is in the nature of the bird and your preparation of them, the other half is the quality of the bird. Need to find out if water is allowed in the show pens and get a small clip-on drinker or whatever they allow. We have thought about entering our local show but they don't allow water so we won't take part or visit again -last time we went it was sweltering and all the birds were gasping and in obvious distress.

I think water is supplied by the stewards after judging. Cleanliness, good feather condition, free from lice and in good bloom are essential, as well as conforming to the breed standard. If they are not pen trained and used to being handled, they can damage themselves and set other birds off too, though I believe Pekins are naturally tame.

Hi,
If you would like to buy a row of show cages, etc, you can probaly buy old ones of the show, or you can get them at the majority of Poultry and Waterfowl auctions.
