Good evening,

We got our 3 Bantams end of August start of September, they were around 20-22 weeks old and had not expected them to lay till next year. However checked the nesting box today and there it was our first little egg. Very supprised and happy.

Our 3 year old sons face lit up when I told him and has booked it for his dinner tomorrow :-).

Congratulations Ontombose. I think bantam eggs taste better than large fowl eggs, but don't know why they should? I used to keep all ours for my personal consumption only -poached eggs on toast for breakfast.

Don't be surprised if she stops because of the nights getting longer. Ours need 12 hours of daylight to lay, but a few of our pullets have laid right through Winter in the past.

Thankyou, although I wont get to try this one its been bagged already.

I wasn't expecting any this year to be fair so it was a nice surprise

Congratulations, I'd go along with Chris on the taste of bantam eggs, the yolks seem to taste richer to me and they're lovely poached . You'll have to make sure you hide the next one and scoff it when no ones around ;)

Sorry I beg to differ! Just love the creamy taste of my large faverolles eggs! Best poached on soft white toasted bread....mmmm....:) :)

Thats fighting talk that is Foxy!!!, your telling me your Faverolle eggs are better than my Pekin eggs and that you eat them on toasted white rather than granary....... outrageous :o , nations have gone to war for less ;) . I will get to see what a half faverolle egg tastes like tomorrow now one of the crosses has started laying and I may be prepared to retract my statement :D
