Finding a new home for our Cockerel

Hello,

This is my first posting on here and a reluctant post it is.

Essentially we have kept chickens for many years and last year had some chicks to us. One of which is a cockerel named Ivor.

We need to find a new home for him. He's healthy, happy and handsome.

Can anyone recommend anywhere within or not to far from Essex where they will take on Ivor?
We could send another hen with him if need be so as that he is not lonely. Ideally a place where he'll be looked after.

If anyone can suggest anywhere it would be appreciated. So far i've tried a variety of farms, inner city farms, animal welfare centres etc to no joy. Some appear full to capacity.

its the age old problem of what to do with surplus cockerels,hes a good looking chap if you wait long enough someone may take him. personally i already have 9 which is about 8 too many.

I'm actually quite surprised at how difficult it is to find a home for a Cockerel. It's quite worrying as to what happens to those that can't find a home.

I shall continue to wait, hopefully someone will have a home for him soon.

its all about patience im afraid, the truth is no one really wants cockerels as you have to be in the middle of nowhere so as not to offend neighbours, "pure" breeds are easier to shift but not by much.
some of my cocks are 4/5 years old and still doing there job. might be worth going round local farms as alot round here have free range flocks and have a high turnover of cocks, the farm next door to me takes a couple a year.

I've now tried over 30+ places and still no joy.

Is there anyone on the forum who lives in the middle of nowhere and would like a very handsome Cockerell? I'm willing to travel to drop him off and donate a bag or 2 of food too
