Hi,
with my 6 quail eggs that are in my incubator,5 are definitely fertile.Obvious signs of embryo and blood vessels like spiders webs.
The one egg is totally different,it looks clear, but a very obvious pink/red thick line going around the albumen. No sign of blood vessels or developing embryo,I'm assuming this was a fertile egg but has stopped or gone off.Am i right?
Today is the 7th day.

Hi Lydia
Throw it out, isn;t developing Lydia. good luck with the other 5. Hope you are well and the birds are doing fine.

Sue

thanks Sue,it's er,the first 1 I dropped,so must have scrambled it too much :o .
Sue,Jenny and Henny Penny are brilliant (as always)they are the nicest chooks I've got.Settled into their routine here and are lovely.I found a layers mash they like,so are having warm mash for breakfast every day.
They are also super intelligent......but then I suspect all chooks are brighter than me...... .

Lydia that is called a blood ring and usually it is caused by bacteria entering the egg. I always candle the eggs before setting them. A lot of times cracks show that I didn't see.

thanks for that,I will candle any future eggs before setting.
