We are at present feeding our ducks on wheat under water in the afternoon as a suppliment to thier layers pellets.
We understood that the wheat helped to keep the duck warm through the cold nights.
So the question is, do they need the wheat only in the winter?

hi, i would feed them the wheat all year around- just give them a little less in the summer -as long as they have pellets ab-lib they will be fine.
regards, David :)

Yes, wheat is their 'staple' but some remove layers pellets in the winter months because they don't need the Calcium if they aren't producing eggs.

Personally, I give both and they can take what they need when they want it / if they need it.
