We live at an university agricultural station, and there is a surplus of different grains. I know wheat is recommended for feeding, but anyone know about other crops? Such as lentils or peas? I can get the surplus for free, which is ideal, come fall/winter. I have 3 drakes and 6 ducks, and will be switching to layer feed this week for my girls- khaki campbells and cayugas.
Also, we have two very large gardens surrounded by grass. I would like to let my flock wonder over to them, but I'm afraid it'll destroy our plants/produce. They are well established plants, and consist of basic veggies (peas, beans, lettuce, potatoes, cucumbers, peppers, corn, tomtatoes...etc). Any thoughts?
