hi all

can anyone tell me about feather sexing

ive been trying to research it but im not sure how to do it and i dont really get it :-)11

all i know is u can sex a chick in the first few hours of hatching and its to do with the feathers on the end of the wing

are the males feathers level and the females uneven? and does it word on all breeds?

thanks

Doesn't work on all breeds, only those carrying the slow feathering gene, still it is not an exact science, unless you are trained and the day olds would normally be a commercial breed anyway.
Cockerels carrying the slow feathering gene are more apparent throughout the early feathering stage compared to their female siblings. Soft feathered pure breeds are more likely to carrying the gene.
