Hi All - What size egg would a large fowl Faverolles hen lay. When would you expect them to come into lay, and as pullets in full lay how many eggs might they produce a week?

Many thanks for any info :D

A pullet in full lay I can expect 3 to 4 eggs per week. Cream eggs with a slight pink blush on their eggs. In the second year significantly larger. I think there is a variance however across the strains in laying capacity.
My older ladies still lay into their 5th and 6th year :D

Many thanks - would you say yours was a good laying strain for the breed?

I would say so Sue. Although mine are an exhibition line, they are very good utlity birds, both for egg laying and meat. Indeed one of my pullets won best "table bird" at the Federation last year :D

It would be interesting to hear Dorinda thoughts, she is a very experienced faverolles breeder who I know values the utility attributes of her faverolles flock.

This is link to faverolles eggs posted in earlier thread, laid by my utility pullets..
