Just been watching the Lanark Ram Sales live on line. Not one of the Rousillon rams reached its reserve. “Don’t know what they are/ my father never had one/ don’t want any of that French rubbish.
Can’t open my eyes and see the obvious superior quality of them”.
Farmers huh?

Fine looking animals, although when I looked them up, I was asked if I wanted to know about measures against a French terror attack. This breed obviously has hidden qualities.
Did you buy anything at the sale, do tell ?

No I didn’t buy anything. But my mate is planning to send a load down because the prices are so much better than here.

This was advertised here in Shetland this week on our local site. Was snapped up while I thought about it. You snooze, you lose!

I don't know a lot about sheep, Hen Gen, but that is one seriously good looking animal! I love the really dense look of his coat! And I love seeing black sheep! I've never seen any around here, although I've seen an occasional black lamb.

The huge increase in interest in spinning and weaving and the use of natural colours has now given coloured sheep a newfound popularity. All shades of cream, brown grey and black can now be seen.
My interest though has nothing to do with the selling of wool. I just love keeping and improving black sheep. The breed pictured above is a North Country Cheviot which hail from Caithness. They very rarely come in black which is why this one sold so swiftly.
