Extraordinary egg

I had an egg which was abandoned by my broody hen when her chicks hatched. It was completely cold so I thought no more of it, then saw Marigold's post on the forum c 12 hours later that only after 24 hours could you be sure the chick was dead, so I popped it in the incubator. I switched off the incubator yesterday 4.5 days after it was due to hatch as I'd given up hope, but switched it back on again 6 hours later just in case I'd made a mistake. Today a healthy chick has popped out.

A lovely laid-back little cockerel that is now bigger than all the rest of the brood.
