Hi, I have an old hybrid hen approx 4 years who has gone into a very heavy moult during this extremely bad weather, she has also developed a limp and is looking rather sorry for herself. I have moved her indoors and she seems much happier and quite perky, nothing else obvious wrong with her but I am a bit worried about her losing all her feathers. I don't want to part with her as she was my first hen and got me interested in this wonderful hobby. Any advice gratefully received. :?

Has she moulted already this year? By that I mean is this her normal annual moult but just rather late?

Last year and this year she and her sister have not moulted properly they have gone a bit bald instead,I just put it down to age, but what's happening to her now is extreme, it's like she is trying to lose all her feathers at once they are coming out in handful's. she has no mites of any kind, I am a bit worried

i have a white leghorn like this you can see more pink flesh then feather one min shes down in the dumps the next shes running around i cant wait for it to be over .

I have a hen, she is five now, and has just dropped ALL her feathers! Practically bald poor thing... :o
