Can anyone advise me on what to get for a reliable set up please?

I was looking at the Mole Valley Farmers offer yesterday on Energisers. They have 33% off at the moment and was thinking of getting one.

Firstly don't use an energised electric net, because stopping it earthing is near impossible. Both our enclosures use the wire mesh or electric net as the earth circuit. About a foot outside that we run two energised wires on posts at 8" and 18" height. Both are battery powered energisers which, if shorted to earth, discharge quickly. So it's important to keep the undergrowth down. One is a large unit with a 120Ahr battery, the other is a very small unit with a 60Ahr battery. Both last two weeks before charging is required and the large battery takes two days so a spare is necessary.

I ran mine from the mains and had a huge earthing spike, but I also put a strip of damp proofing material underneath the bottom wire and kept the grass strimmed really short. I also had an alarm hanging on the fence which I could see easily - I sometimes forget to reconnect the fence after I'd been into the enclosure

Both systems work well, the biggest thing we found was keeping foliage short underneath it, good idea the damp proofing Margaid and the alarm, it only need a moments distraction and you wander off without switching it on
