I imagine you are all worried with the weather getting colder as what to do with your drinkers to stop the water freezing inside.
A handy tip it to add a few drops of glycerine into the water, as it is oil based the water does not freeze and is completely harmless to poultry. It works on temperatures to -8c.
If you want any other tips let me know.

Where do you get glycerine from?

Isn't that an ingredient in making bombs? I'd be careful when cracking eggs open in that case! :)

Osric you do make me laugh!!!

It is an ingredient you add to icing on cakes to keep it soft and pliable. You'll have to start baking" and add it to your list of talents!!
Can get it in any supermarket (in the baking section).

I haven't baked cakes for years. I tend not to bother because I'm more of a savoury guy but I am the King - nay, GOD of Yorkshire puddings! My Sunday dinners are awesome, even if I do say so myself 8-)

I'm going shopping tomorrow, I'll check out the cake isle and buy some TNT ingredients ;)

Is that a euphemism for something else? :)

Never made it before but I've got sausages in the freezer and a couple of eggs in the fridge.

LOL,no,not a euphemism, not at this time of the day  .It was just a simple question as your the 'king of yorkshires',sorry, not king-god.

It does take a little longer to cook than little yorkshires, make sure you brown the sausages under the grill first, before putting into the batter/yorkshire mix.Just thought it would be something simple you'd enjoy.

How much glycerin should I add to a six pint water drinker to stop it freezing over?

We bought glycerine today from Boots, near the cough medicine section. Getting home we wondered how much to put in and logging in today I found the answer straight away. Thanks VP for the info as I was worrying about the water when I'm at work tomorrow. :-)17

Don*t envy you that lot!
It was only -4 here but it looks like there is more snow to come this week. Urggggggg :-)06

YAY!!!!!!---Osrics reappeared too!!!!!! We have no water to freeze--our mains has been frozen up.I will be reduced to trying to heave some water up from the well or putting buckets of snow infront of fire to thaw!!Such a shame (ha ha) looks like I wont get down the lane to get to dentist again! Ros

Well VP----when it has thawed out - have quickly filled everything water tight up! It came on again early afternoon so everything is topped up again. Waterboard say its happened to loads of people-I think we have been lucky its come back at times to fill containers! Its not as bad here as a couple of weeks ago .Its not too bad!Ros
